Frankfurt, Germany, and New York, USA – 2018-04-04

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) announced today that Digital Content Next (DCN) and the Local Media Association (LMA) have joined its annual North American conference as strategic partners, joining current partners, the News Media Alliance and Reuters.

The event will take place from June 26-27, 2018, in New York City. Reuters will once again host the event at its Thomson Reuters Building.

"We strongly believe that working together with local and national news media organizations guarantees delivering relevant and timely topics in our events,” said Vincent Peyrègne, CEO of WAN-IFRA. “Last year’s partnership with the News Media Alliance and Reuters proved to be the right move. Extending this partnership to include Digital Content Next and its influential network of more than 70 premium members, and the Local Media Association, an association with more than 2,800 members, will allow us to deliver a quality event to an even broader audience of news media executives in the US and Canada."

Last year the inaugural edition of Digital Media North America was launched in New York City, attracting 120 news media executives from 30 companies. The North American event is now an integral addition of WAN-IFRA’s Digital Media Conference series and network, already active in Europe, Latin America, Asia, India and Africa. More than 1,700 delegates participate in the organization’s Digital Media events annually, making it one of the most relevant international business platforms dedicated to the transformation of the news media industry.

“We are excited to be part of this event that will showcase digital subscription case studies from around the world,” said LMA President, Nancy Lane. “For many of our newspaper members, this is their biggest priority right now. Thanks to WAN-IFRA for their leadership in this area.”

"Discussions on how media organizations can cultivate their deep, trusted relationships with consumers to drive subscription revenue are critical to the health of our industry and we're looking forward to joining the conversation," said Jason Kint, CEO of Digital Content Next.

This year’s edition of Digital Media North America will solely focus on: conversion and retention in digital subscriptions and membership programmes. The one-and-a-half-day event will provide a unique opportunity to hear how leading local, national and international news media companies that are tackling these challenges – not only in the US and Canada, but also internationally. Last year’s edition attracted speakers from a variety of companies: Telegraph Media Group, Le Monde, The Washington Post, Schibsted, Prisa, Axios, The Outline, Turner, The New York Times…
