(UPM, Helsinki, 16 September 2019 at 08:00 EET) – UPM has been listed as the forest and paper industry leader in the Dow Jones European and World Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for 2019-2020.

“DJSI is an esteemed, global index measuring corporate sustainability. First of all, I would like to thank all UPMers for their valuable contribution to this recognition,” notes Sami Lundgren, VP, UPM Responsibility.

“We are determined to be the number one company offering a wide range of renewable and responsible products and solutions to the growing global demand”, says Sami Lundgren. “By using wood in a sustainable and innovative manner, we can replace fossil based materials and create more value. This is the essence of the UPM Biofore Beyond Fossils thinking.”

Manjit Jus, Head of ESG Ratings, RobecoSAM: “We congratulate UPM for being included in the DJSI Global and Europe. The SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment has again raised the bar in identifying those companies best-positioned to address future sustainability challenges and opportunities. This year – which marks the 20th anniversary of the DJSI – record corporate interest in the SAM CSA reflects the enduring relevance of the DJSI for measuring and advancing ESG practices."
